I Am

I am the conflict that renews.
I am the need in you to move.
I am the ebb; I am the flow.
I am the spark in you that glows.
I am the sinner in your saint.
I am the joy in your complaint.

I am the darkness you deny.
I am the light you try to hide.
I am your mercy and your hate.
I am your birth; I am your wake.
I am your pleasure and your pain.
I am the hope that you sustain.

I am your morals and your law.
I am your wonder and your awe.
I am your legends and your lore.
I am your virgin and your whore.
I am your truth; I am your lie.
I am your ever-questing "Why?"
I am your salvation and your Hell.
I am the reason that you fell.

I am your virtue and your vice.
I am your fire and your ice.
I am the remnant of your past.
I am the thing you strive to cast
Into a sea of NEVER-MORE.
I am the you that you abhor.
I am the animal within.
I am your seven deadly sins.

I am the chastity you pray
Brings you to a better way.

I am the lust inside your heart
For all that life can impart.

I am the abstinence you employ
To deny life's vile joys.

I am the gluttony you embrace,
Sampling every varied taste.

I am the generosity you repent
When you find your soul is spent.

I am the greed in you for more,
The ambition in you to soar.

I am the kindness you think you give,
As you poison the will to live.

I am the envy in your soul
For all the things you will never know.

I am the humility in which you wallow,
Making lies easier to swallow.

I am the pride that makes you strong
With the belief you are not wrong.

I am the diligence you swear
Can make life truly fair.

I am the sloth that holds you still
Through the apathy of broken Will.

I am the patience you forget
With the words you never meant.

I am the rage that keeps you sane
When your world is only pain.

Your virtue is your vice
And you try to be nice.
You kill yourself with kindness,
Moving too fast to see your mess.
Never looking for the soul,
The truth you leave behind you never know.
Faith is not a commodity to be bought;
It either is
Or it is naught.
