The Flower in the Wasteland

There’s a flower that blooms in a bare wasteland
Out of the sun, where the cold wind blows
And no matter where you turn to look
There is nothing else that grows
The sun illuminates us
Energizing and renewing
Too much may burn us out
But darkness keeps us from doing
There’s a flower that blooms in a bare wasteland
Reaching out through the soil that darkness has seared
And this flower that blooms in a bare wasteland
Shows us how courage can be a consequence of fear.
Out of despair and out of denial
A crimson rose will rise
When all your hatred seems to do
Is bring about your own demise
This rose that blooms in a bare wasteland
Is a part of Mother Earth
It grows in misery, pain and grief
And turns them into mirth
Sorrow comes from joy
Joy comes from pain
Pain comes from love
Loving is how we live again
And this crimson rose in a barren land
Is all that needs to grow
Because the more often we seek it
The more it has to show
